I have an odd issue that I’ve noticed recently. Actually I’ve noticed it for a while, but I don’t typically have to air my tires up to correct psi too often.

let me start by saying, I know how the JL TPMS works, with two receivers in the front and 1 in the rear to show correct positions of tires and psi.
My front driver and front passenger tire is flipped. No recent tire rotation or anything. My dash said I needed some air in the front driver. Put some in, didn’t have my tire gauge handy, hopped back in and the psi on my front passenger tire in the dash went up.

odd.

pulled back in the garage, put air in the front passenger and the error for the front driver being low went away. As far as I can tell the rears are reading correctly.

I’m going to mention it to the dealership next time I go in, anyone have an ideas of what the heck is going on in the meantime? Are my front receivers wired backwards? Are they programmed by a tool? Surely if the rear sensor doesn’t pick up the spare then the fronts shouldn’t be picking up the wrong sensor from the opposite side of the car?

Go drive it and it will relearn the correct location.
it has been like this for months. I remember several months ago playing this same game. Filling one up only to find it was the opposite tire. The tires haven’t been rotated in months. It’s always the front driver and passenger too. What I do physically to the driver always shows on the passenger side on the interior display. No matter how far I drive or anything. That’s why I was beginning to wonder if the sensors were wired wrong, or possibly programmed wrong. But I’m not sure how these receivers work.

Then try this. Lower all of your tire down about 12 psi. Go drive the Jeep for a small bit like less than a mile. Come back and fill them back up to the exact +/- 1 psi to the door placard and go drive them again.

TPMS are not “wired”. All they have is a specific protocol that has a unique identifier that is transmitted over either 315 or 433 Frequency, 433 in this case for Wrangler. They send that to the Jeep and it assigns it to that corner. Jeeps are auto relearn. It does all of that by driving.

If the system is broken to where the Jeep can’t tell what corner is which (the problem you are seeing) it would be a first I bet. We rarely see the cars receivers go out and only have heard of this on Bentleys.
