I Just purchased a new JLU and looking to get bigger tires. What is the max size and rims I can get with nonlift? What’s a good site to look for this.

If I wanted to add a lift what’s a good one at a good price the Mopar? Do I just have a shop install. I don’t have tools or skills yet.

Sorry for the newbie questions

Newbie questions need to be asked so other newbies can learn too! Anyway, it is recommended not to go about 33" in diameter. Offset, wheel width & how you plan to drive it will impact you as well. Are you planning to change the wheels as well? For me, I am going to put a 17" wheel on my Sahara, so the options at the largest are probably 295/70R17 or 285/75R17 (basically 34"). The safest bet is to go 285/70R17 It is slightly under 33" but would still look pretty good. Personally, I am going with 285/75R17 (pretty sure). I'll be pushing it a little, but the off-roading I plan to do will not include rock crawling, just getting out to campsites. A couple other guys have done this as can be seen on this thread:

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/285-75r17-on-sahara.3609/

I would read the entire thread if I were you.

I don't know much about the lift question, as I do not plan to do that--at least for a while. I'd like to keep my warranty covering my suspension, so I would probably do the mopar 2" lift if I were to do it.. that opens up a whole different can of worms as far as possible tire size.

If you do not already understand what offset/backspacing is, you should definitely read up on that as well--they are similar concepts, but the wheel width comes into play so there is not a clean conversion between the two. I use this site to visualize:

https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

Lastly, you'll want to consider the combined weight of the wheel and tire--If you get too heavy, you'll need to reinforce your tailgate to hold your spare tire. The only reinforcement system I know of (OEM) is quite pricey.. so I would shoot to no greater than the 85lb recommended load. If you will be doing much offroading, you'll need to keep it under 85 or get the reinforcement.
