Would you consider purchasing a 2021 Unlimited 392 if it had three owners, no accidents, and 18k miles? Under normal circumstances I would say hell no, but the 392 is a little different.

Hopefully you checked both of the big title checks, Carfax and Autocheck. I have seen it where one will show an accident or title issue and the other one missed it.

Without a doubt have it fully inspected, as others have mentioned 3 owners since 21 seems a little fishy but it doesn't mean its a problem. It just requires a little extra due diligence on your part.

Hopefully it works out for you!

I'd certainly consider it after looking it over real good. Most of the 392 owners have no clue what 4 wheeling is and buy the rig for "performance", then dump it when it doesn't match up to their expectations. "It handles weird, it rides rough, the top is too noisy" etc.

Mall crawler bros just moving on to the next fad... Wouldn't concern me if it's stock and in clean condition with no red flags on the Carfax/Autocheck.

is it an XR or None XR?
if it’s a none XR then it was most likely traded because the previous owners didn’t want to miss out on owning a 392 and took what they could get their hands on at the time, then an XR became available and they traded up. None XRs are looked down on in the 392 community, but I love mine.

Yup. And there's that too. It amazes me how many people sell their 1 year old 392 just to get the latest and greatest "XR" package. Yes, the XR package is very cool but to sell the Jeep you already own, pay the taxes again etc, just hurts my brain. Lol.

Stock, non-XR, like new in and out.

I appreciate the replies. Very helpful. It's exciting to see 392's dipping into the upper or even mid-$60K range.

Problem is the have had the exhaust open the whole time and rodded the shit out of it. I can vouch for no clue wheeling. Almost all the 392 drivers at the Rubicon trail were horrible drivers and cost us so much time. I’d say one guy cost us a total of 2 hours. I absolutely hate the 392 wrangler.

Shit I was kicking around the idea the other day of buying a 2015 BMW i8 that had 24,000 mi, for $48,000... And then I saw it had 5 owners, no accidents and regular dealership maintenance... If you know anything about the BMW i8, you know it's not what people expect it to be, and it's not really a supercar, but it's more like a daily driver EV that looks like a supercar and functions like a sport car.

Honestly with the trade-in we would get from my wife's Subaru, we could probably get down to $35,000... But for me, 5 owners in 10 years is a lot. Red flags were raised for me and I threw our the idea getting an i8 anytime soon. With what I know about the vehicle, it's very possible that rich dumbasses bought the vehicle not knowing what they were getting themselves into, but still five owners is too many. Last thing I want to do is buy a used BMW and find out too late that it's having electrical problems or something. If you didn't know, they're not cheap to work on and there's zero aftermarket for them.

To TC: I would pass on a three-year-old vehicle with three owners. The average person is going to keep a vehicle for 2 years minimum. Unless it dies or is total rubbish and they unload it, most people will stick around for 2 years before they trade it in for something else... Like I always say, trust your gut, it sounds like you already know it's a bad idea!

I agree with @Atomic-Mouse , even members have reported getting pre XR’s, then getting XR’s. It’s also not a cheap vehicle, bought beyond their means and had to sell ? Situation change creating a long commute ? A 3yr 3 owner Wrangler 392 isn’t the same as a 3 owner Camry, BMW, Rav4 etc. But do try to get an accurate maintenance record, it could have been problematic. Unfortunately Car Fax has proven unreliable constantly sending false services required messages and I don’t know who is. If it’s at a dealer have them get the service record, if not, but you have the vin# ask a service writer you have had good dealings with to get it. And don’t worry about it not being an XR, gears and tires cost me about the same as the pkg price plus the first price increase, (or wait until you need tires anyway, and the 373’s pulled the 35’s fine if you’re not a picky bastard like me), flare extensions are ~ $100 with rivets (35/12.50’s tread is even with the fenders on stock 392 wheels and not needed) Uh, I just splurged on new wheels, but the 35/12.50’s were fine on the stock ones. First mod suggestion-Z automotive NoLimitz JL for an MDS and speed limiters on/off capability. 😃

There are quite an assortment of 1 owner 392s available on cars.com. All depends on your price point and how far you want to go and get it.
