The market demand just isn't there to support it. In comparison to the JLU, even the Gladiator that can preform family truck duties doesn't sell all that well. Mid size trucks are a compromise in general, and a mid size wrangler based truck is even worse. It's too long to take advantage of the narrow body/wide fender design that makes the Wrangler so successful off road. Instead you get the more cramped interior and poor maneuverability. Then you have the standard mid size truck compromises of low payload and towing capacities in comparison to their slightly larger full size competition. The 2 door JL doesn't sell, I think a 2 door gladiator may actually sell better than it. The problem there is it would likely be the potential JL buyer now buying the 2dr JT instead and would certainly mean the end of the 2dr wrangler.
