Yes, the pricing has always been this way. The Auto is $4500 more than the MT, going to the 2.0T "saves" you $2000 therefore the net difference is $2500.
In when I ordered my 22 JLURXR the 2.0l was a 500 dollar credit.

So I just looked at the online build.

Sport S or the Willy's V6 with 8 speed auto is a $2500 upcharge

Rubicon with the V6 and 8 speed auto is a $4500 upcharge

What am I missing as they seem to be the same drivetrain. Does the Rubi get a different transfer case with this as well?
Yes there is a difference:
Sport S, Willys, and Sahara all have SIX (6) letters in their name.
Rubicon has SEVEN (7) letters in its name. Its an extra $2000 for that extra letter. Duh! ??

You can order it on several models right now..............if you want to pay the $4500 up charge.
Hopefully Jeep will get its head out its ass and lower it to $2500
Agreed

It really wasn't like that. If you got the 2.0 it was 2K, and the auto was 2500. But when you got the V6, it was still just 2500. So the difference was 4500 if you went with the different engine, but not if you just went manual to auto with the V6
Yr correct ?

I heard through the grapevine that you can order the V6 with an automatic transmission on Saharas now. The online build tool hasn't been updated yet.
You could in 2018 I currently own one

So u can only get v6 AT in rubicon for 4500 bucks or soon the Sahara 4 door, But the 4cyl turbo is in restriction as well as the V6 in MT? So wtf options u have? The rubi or 4XE horseshit? This what gets me sick with jeep man.

You can get a 392 with an automatic.

I don't think I'd buy a non-Rubicon Jeep again after having owned a few, and now owning a Rubi. If I was to build something from the ground up I'd probably go used anyhow. If I wanted to build something new, I'd start with as stripper-model of a 2-door as I could find.

I refuse to spend $4500 for the automatic. I'll buy a different vehicle first.
For me, the Jeep I am buying is simply for fun. If I can find a Acura Integra Type S for a reasonable price before Jeep gets its head out of its ass they will lose me as a customer.

Actually, you can't even get just the auto for $4,500. It also automatically adds the 35's and 4.56 gears, too, and adds a total of $7,500. Can't have one without the other...at least on an X build with a V6. Doing the same, but choosing the 2.0 also adds the 35's and gears like the V6, but only adds a total of $5,500. So, $2K savings if choosing the turbo.

Automatic trans = must have 35's and 4.56 gears.

I don’t have the need or use for 90,000+++ 392 or rock crawl to get a rubi. That’s what I planned to do get a base and add my own stuff after the fact.

That's like saying you can order it with two sh*t sandwiches, small order of fried oysters and a 36 oz Mr Pibb with no ice. Why would anyone order a Jeep, that way, with an auto trans? Jeeps have manual trans.
An automatic transmission is far and away better in every respect than a manual - controlability, transfer of power, efficiency, and durability and reliability - that is why modern heavy equipment such as dozers, earth movers, 170 ton trucks in the mines, including semi trucks and including US Army now use automatic transmissions (fluid drives) and have for some time. You might like a manual tranny, and maybe think it is macho or something, but the truth is that a manual tranny is DOA in off roading of any kind, and/or competition, and in reliability. I've driven 'em all - been driving Scouts, Jeeps, dozers, u name it since I was 14 yoa some 61 years ago, and these new auto trannys combined with the various electronic 4WD drive systems utilizing brake control to transfer power to certain wheels, (crawl control) - this new stuff can't be beat! Yeh - was a challenge to drive that old 65 scout over boulders with no power steering and have the wheel ripped out of your hands, but I like the new stuff .......
