Checking to see if anyone has any experience with the "tesla style" audio display kits. Are any of the brands legit and high quality or are they junk?

In general, they are buggy and not worth the money. I won't install them but if you're willing to do the install it could be an interesting experiment.

Most of the off brand android head units should all be very similar.. I used to have one in my old vehicle.

if your intention is for apple CarPlay or android auto only, then don’t worry too much about the interface. Some android units advertise more ram etc, just get the lowest one because the idea is every time you turn it on, it should connect to your phone, and therefore the phone is what is being mirrored essentially on the screen.

so yeah, if Using with CarPlay, it’s probably great.

Apparently some company is supposedly adapting the Ram 12 inch radio to work for the JL, but it’s coming out in 2022. I’m looking to do an upgrade like that, but I also like the idea of keeping it with Uconnect.

I've run some of these android units in Volkswagens...they are ok, but don't have high expectations. They are not as stable as a factory radio, occasional glitches, needs to be reset, etc. Sound quality is generally ok, but typical China quality on everything else. Long story short, I would save my money for something else.

Thank you all for the replies. I think I'll stay clear of them. I've had my eye on the HEIGH10 from stinger for awhile now but if anyone has other suggestions I would appreciate the input. Thanks again

After parsing through the various threads on these units, I would only touch one of these if I felt like being an unpaid beta tester, to be honest...

Go with the Stinger HEIGH10 head unit, IMO.

Cheers,

I'd be interested in these things if they weren't all built with the cheapest parts China has to offer and the most poorly written Android software in the universe.
