So I have some Nomads I got a year ago or so, have only tried the deflators a few times but most of them didn’t seem to be set correctly… I thought I saw somewhere that max pressure was like 17 or 18psi and website says can be lowered down to 10.
Well, today I did a test and closed all 4 tire valves all the way and released the air.
One deflated to 15psi with the valve all the way tightened.
One went to 17, and I loosened the valve ~3.75 turns to get around 15psi.
The other two tires deflated to zero.

@TeraFlex I can’t find much info on issues with these or what to do about it. Pretty sure I installed them just as directions said. No sealant or balance beads.
Can I somehow “clean” them if I remove them? Are there rebuild kits?

thanks

I got mine set pretty close to 15psi each without any trouble. Are you letting them deflate until you stop hearing air? It does say in the instructions that the valves never fully close, but you can hear a difference in the air coming out when they go from actively deflating to their "closed" state. Why they don't close completely, only Teraflex can answer. IMO, if Staun and Coyote valves can manage it, I don't know why The Nomads can't. That's besides the point though.

In their "closed" state it would take a very long time for them to completely deflate the tire, so it sounds like you've got two bad valves. I imagine, since they just thread into the rim, replacement valves would be something Teraflex could send out, but you'd have to ask them.

Edit: Never mind. They're available retail. https://www.extremeterrain.com/tera...ff-road-wheel-air-deflator-valve-1056000.html

Yea the two that work do that (although I think the one should be able to be set higher than 15, but that’s where I was going to put them anyway. My 37s don’t flatten much at 17).
The other two just has full bore until the pressure gauge went to zero.

may Stauns I have are dead nuts to 17psi set from the factory :movember:

So I took out the two bad valves and took them apart. Not overly dirty, but both had some grit on the surface inside the tire. I wiped and blew everything off, and both valves worked to 18 psi.. so, not a terrible fix, since you can unscrew the valves from outside the wheel and you don’t have to break a bead or anything crazy like that.
I just hope this isn’t a recurring theme, maybe just some leftover crap inside the tires I bought used.

what stops the air is that silver plunger at the bottom, mating to the silver screw/plug on the inside. It’s just metal to metal surface, no seal, so I’m not surprised these don’t completely stop air coming out when they’ve reached their set pressure.
