Hi,

I test drove a Jeep Saraha, and I'm on vacation and currently renting a Jeep JK. I noticed on both of them I'm able to move the steering wheel up and down, but not forward or backwards? Is this just they way they are?

It does seem you are pretty close to the steering wheel as it is, but I have an awkward leg to arm ratio, so sometimes I need to adjust depending how my seating position is.

Thanks in advance!

BTW Got my first Jeep wave :)

@Yeeper

With the JL you can move up and down and also telescope in and out. With the JK, if I remember correctly you can just move up and down.

Thanks! I briefly test drove the Sahara JL, so I think I just wasn't doing it properly. I'm in Florida with the top off and just driving around, it's awesome! Can't wait to order mine next month!

Didn't know the JL had telescoping steering column, tried on mine last time and didn't telescope, and I have a JL. Will look again.

Ha ha - I didn't think mine did either but I tried again. It's not much, but it does move a little bit (the up/down travel seems considerably more). Personally I leave mine all in the position closest to the dash anyway.

Maybe the factory should print out information on features in book form. Maybe put a copy in every new Jeep ;)

Lol..Telescoping is a feature Jeep installed under the steering column. When top is off you can detach the telescope unit and look at the moon. Great feature!! All jeeps have stationary(except up/down) steering wheels.

Actually I’ve never seen a teloscopic steering wheel, and can’t imagine any need for one. A teloscopic COLUMN is a handy feature many vehicles have, JL included.:movember:
