When setting the tire size are you supposed to use the installed height of the tire, or the listed measurements on the side of the tire. Like I have 37s but when measured they are closer to 36.. do I set the calibration to 37 or 36?

@SleepEatJeepRepeat

I have found recommending a specific size to use is pointless..

So, do, try one, test and then do the other setting. Only takes a few minutes..

Regardless of what you set to, DO, use a smartphone GPS/Speedo app to verify that your JL's speedometer is within 1 mph of what app says. You may be even able to get it spot on..

DO, every few months, if you drive a lot / put on lots of miles..... spot check again to see if speedo is still accurate. As your JL's tread wears down, you may need to change the setting with your Tazer JL.

cool will try that to dial it in. I did contact tazer and they said to use measured height, so will use that as my starting point.

@SleepEatJeepRepeat

YES, start / use measured height and work from there... Be sure to check carefully at varied speeds to be sure speedo is correct at different speeds.. Don't just test say at 55 mph on the interstate for example.

You want to set your desired tire pressure first. My 37 Nitto RGs worked out to be 30psi cold. Once psi set then measure and set Tazer. You will be very close.

This is something you may find yourself playing with a little. Weight of rig and desired ride feel will also dictate psi. You could also do a chalk test to make sure best contact patch. No magic setting those :). Rig looks great :like:

I tried using a GPS Speedo App but are yet to find an App that gives an accurate reading. Some Apps gives me a 1 or 2 mile/hr reading when I am sitting outside on the garden bench.

I set the Jeep's cruise control to 75 miles/hr and cruise on a flat road, no wind, for about 10 miles. During this time the speed indicated by the GPS App fluctuates by about 8 miles/hr?!?

I am not sure a GPS App is the best way to do the calibration and selecting of the tire size.

WAZE is accurate. I recently upgraded to 33 inch tires and used WAZE to check my speedo after using my Tazer to set the tire size.

I drove at various random speeds, setting the cruise control each time, and my speedo matched WAZE 100%.

What tire size did you select in the Tazer's setup and what is your 33" tire size.

I have 33" tires (Size 285/70R17's which is actually 32.7") and the Tazer menu selection is on 32.45"

I'm running LT275/70R18 size tires. Tire spec is 33.23 inch diameter. I have my tire size set to 33 with the Tazer.

A 285/70R17 should measure out to about 33.8 inches in diameter. What brand tire are you running?

Nope 285/70R17 is nowhere near 33.8 inches.

Here is the math:

Formula
Tyre Height = (Width X Aspect Ratio X 2 /25.4) + (Rim size)

Tire size = 285/70R17
285 = Width (In mm)
70 = Aspect Ratio (As a percentage of width)
17 = Rim size (In inches)

Tire size = (285 X 70% X 2)/25.4
Tyre size = 15.7 + Rim size
Tyre size = 15.7 + 17
Tyre size = 32.7 inch
285/70R17 = 32.7 inch

Notes: A circle is round and mm must be converted to inches.
