Had my 2021 3.6 put in the shop with a tapping noise. They diagnosed it the same as my dad did as a lifter/cam issue. Took it back the other day and here we are again. Now it's making a sucking/whistle noise. Let me know what you think.

My stop start also was not working and they diagnosed it as a sensor. It still wasn't working on the ride home so I called the service manager. They told me it can take 2 days to calibrate. I bought that, but then I got home and read the report which says it worked for the tech after replacing the sensor. How does it work for him right away but it takes two days to work for me??!?! Lol still not working. I know from reading on here it's the crap batteries Jeep puts in there.

I would look for a loose vacuum hose. the sucking sound is not normal and they probably just missed a hose on reassembly.

As for the stop/start... look at the threads about bypassing the aux battery. just lift one negative wire from the battery terminal and pull a fuse. I'd bet that it starts working again.

Thanks buddy. I was thinking a similar thing with a loose vacuum hose. My biggest concern is the sound of the engine. Thing sounds like a diesel with the tapping / ticking. I'm reading all these horror stories. I hope I'm not the next one. My dealer has been amazing thus far. I hope they continue it. Thanks for the reply. ✌

Has this work already been completed and it still sounds like that?
I'm far from mechanically inclined. But I'm pretty sure that it didn't sound like that the first day I got it. That video is from last night and I got it back on Monday so about 5ish days. My dad is the mechanic of the family - I'm still learning. He joked asking if they swapped my 3.6 for the Eco Diesel ?

sure sounds like a bad engine to me.
They told me before they gave it back to me that if the engine oil pump didn't solve the problem they were going to have to put a new engine in it. Because the lifter and rockers didn't solve the problem. They alleged the engine oil pump solve the problem in combination with replacing the lifters and the rockers. Clearly it didn't.

JFC. That engine is so full of metal that it has no oil pressure at the cams.

Like I said far from mechanically inclined. I'm embarrassed to say I just learned during all of this what a lifter and a cam is. ? But it definitely sounds no bueno. I guess what do you want for 60k ?. I'm just hoping the dealership does the right thing and doesn't make this an order to fight with Jeep. I'm glad to hear that others believe it's the same issue. I'm glad the dealership documented the issue and that they were able to duplicate it. Again, just hoping they do the right thing. Maybe go above and beyond and replace it with the 392 engine for my headaches ??? I'll be the test dummy for the first 2 door 392 Rubi ?

No doubt they should put a long block in it under warranty. A very easy repair, especially compared to the work that was already done.

Is your engine light on?

ok the noob in me: when you say "long block", you mean an entire new engine? Thanks for your replies and knowledge
