Well it’s not easy to pop open, that’s for sure. Had to use a small screw driver and a trim removal tool. Didn’t find any bitcoin unfortunately, or anything for that matter.

Maybe was just some kid messing around…I dunno.

A squirrel trying to find a spot to hide their nuts?

Are you positive it didn't have those pry marks when you took delivery of the Jeep?

It is in an area that you wouldn't really notice any marks unless you were looking for them so they could have been there before you owned the Jeep.
Could’ve been there when I took delivery, it wasn’t obvious.

I have seen YouTube videos of “hidden compartments” in your Jeep in the center console and door grab handles where the owner is hiding cash. Wonder if that is what they were looking for.

I found some areas with missing paint a couple of months after taking delivery of my Jeep. I brought it to the attention of the dealer. They contacted Jeep who authorized it to get fixed by the dealers body shop.

I would guess, a tracker was put in, by the dealership. I would look deeper inside the area.

I would open it just in case. Not sure about a jealous spouse but some random criminal could’ve put an AirTag in there to track you…
If you have an iPhone (don’t think this works with Android),you phone will alert you you’re being tracked,, unless you are the one who put the air tag there.

It’ll happen after the first couple of times you return to the same location, and will pop up as an alert on the phone.

Yes I’m aware. But I’m not sure that feature works as well as advertised. I watched a few videos of people testing the AirTag and they never got a notification that there was an AirTag in their car that wasn’t Registered to their account. They drove around for hours and exited and entered the car numerous times and never got that notification. So I am not sure I would completely trust that feature to let me know.

Bummer. I had someone (guessing a disgruntled teenager) scratch the word, SORRY, into my passenger dash with the doors and top off.

My ’19 JL soft top had a tuffy center console lock box so I left the glove box and top of the center console unlocked to prevent someone from prying them open.

After the SORRY incident, someone rifled through both but didn’t take anything. Maybe just one stick of gum but left the owners manual and windshield tie downs.

This shit played into my decision to trade her in for a ‘21 JLR with a hardtop. Loved my ‘19 JL. Bought it after recovering from a motorcycle accident so I treated it like one (no doors or back windows as much as I could).

Looks like a couple fins in the defroster are also knicked.
I'm going to guess the dealers detailer or prep team, it's an odd spot for random passer-by's.

Could be something like this if you leased or had to finance the vehicle?
