Wow, very similar experience. I was just down the road from Osan AB at the Hump.

The immediate impact and fall out on family due to multiple and lengthy deployments is real.

Hope you are doing well.
26+ years and still in, luckily I met my wife after a majority of the deployments. Felt like groundhog day for a decade. Like I never left the ME.

What a day in history. Hopefully the younger generations will learn about this and never forget either. I was on my way to work when the first tower fell and heard the coverage on the radio. Once at the office, went across the street to the laundromat with everyone and watched the second tower fall. Nobody said a word, just shock. I wish the county was as unified now as it was the days following that mess.

Tee-totally for sure! We have a different country now.

I was walking out of the house when I saw on TV the plane going into the first tower. I lived 5 minutes from the main gate at Nellis. By this time I was already out, so work was across town near the air port. On my way in the radio went from playing music and traffic to talk. I thought someone flipped a switch and played War of the Worlds. When I was parked at work, I finally realized what was happening. When I walked in the door a couple of people asked me if I knew where a couple more TVs were. It was very surreal and trying to keep people on task for the day was not easy and understandable.

For me there was also the additional reminder of when I was at Upper Heyford when Operation Eldorado Canyon happened. And followed by Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. There were times that I wondered if I was going to be called back to duty.
