2013 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4 door Automatic
Having turned wrenches for several years (on pretty much everything else except Jeeps lol) I have an issue which I had thought was problem with either an idler or tensioner where there was a squeal and what sounds like the tensioner lashing at low RPMs under load but couldn't get to happen at idle. It starts with the squeal and then it'll build up to what sounds like the tensioner lashing.
I changed out the belt and idler pullies and tensioner and it seemed to help at first but then it came back and I'm suspicious that it may be something to do with the timing chain. I actually had the dealership look at it when I had to replace the internal oil cooler and they said "something with the serpentine assembly"...which I am still doubting.
Here's the issue...the squeal only occurs in the lower RPM range of each gear under load (not necessarily towing, just driving). If I downshift it disappears completely. Also the belt is incredibly easy to pull over the pully when I change it which I've never experienced one that easy/sloppy before.
I don't know if this is a Jeep thing or if it's something else a bit deeper. If anyone has experienced a similar issue and knows what's up I'd greatly appreciate any insight.
Thanks in advance!
