// Buckle up -- here we go,, //
not exactly that it makes me feel more safe .. it's that i do not want to be digging back in here again to replace a failed one.. preferably Ever , tho id be ok with another year or so before doing such..If i had bought one prior - no brainer it be in on this round. Im mostly concerned if it was caused from the tensioner going out ( must been shot for some time ) or if it Was the cause of it going out..Ive never seen one wabble like that ..bent internal shaft or if its actually by design . Because according to my gages and DTC info , nothing indicates alternator issues. Unless im interpretation is off, as there remained 2 powertrain codes - no engine light has appered yet , and only found the codes by my random scanning i do often.
Since - replaced thermostat- tho code still hasnt cleared yet ,,
not long after my powersteering suddenly went out - then came back on again after a right hand turn onto a different road..
*** back story ,,
Had dealership replace my intake manifold at same time replaced the fuel pump from recal notice.
I won't go into the issues that i have found from the dealer service dept here - another posting in these forums on that already ,
Except to say that i just today confirmed that they had Re. activated my alternate battery , discovered after disconnected main battery to start working on my tensioner , and leaned on my key fob and my alarm went off.. so that came first , this time i did it fully , removing the cables and bending their tabs to adapt to main battery cables and pulled fuse 42 AGAIN .. unbelievable what that fkn dealer service did .. should have immediately hired an attorney and sued them for full cost of new in crate engine and labor for removing anx replacing -from a different dealership- they forgpt or neglected to refill coolant even !!! Only discovered that a day after completions from dealer , and heading for road trip over mt.hood , did pre check on fluids an oil as i do everytime --
I digress sorry, yet had to mention cuz of the 2nd battery bein back in the mix of things - it could stand to reason why ive been seeing codes -
After this installation - I'll re scan and see .. ***
And since I've been hearing grinding noise that did not seem to increase or decrease with excelleration - i convinced myself it was powersteering pump going out . 1 week and $1800 later ( replaced the pump with PSC 1800 psi with cooler, installed front of radiator. ) I still had that grinding noise , so looked real good over engine white running and used a probe to best isolate where source of grind comming from . Indicated to me was the tensioner pully.. and that's where I'm at tonight..
Going to just get it back on and finish this chapter .
2 nights working on it now and is my only transportation ,, its going to finish tonight ( this morning am ) ...
I Hope ..
Forgot to add :replaced original main battery with yellow top one - and bought new mini one i just kept in there,Before replacing my intake manifold - so been in there couple years now --- votage remaing from 12.4 to high of 14 a few times , all while driving and monitoring from dash .. No issues starting up or such either ,, so again no reason to assume alternator , and not knowing until tonight that a year ago the second battery was in play again.. ( damn i need therapy due to dealership service dept issues just keep popping back up - missing bolts , re active 2nd battery ect..)
