Hey all. My soft top finally came in. I have a question. Do any of you guys also use a sunshade for when the top is down on those crazy hot days? I was looking at the spiderweb shades. They look pretty cool To keep that hot sun off you while the top is down, but didn’t know if it defeats the purpose of having the top down then. I love the open air but was thinking some days the wicked hot sun on you will get old pretty quick. Figured it would help keep the keep cooler when getting back in too if sitting outside.

thanks!

Yep. Love my Spiderwebshade. Here are some various pics with the top up and down. Really helps to keep you cool on those hot sunny days.

I mean in those situations I just put the top back up but leave the window panels out and go safari mode.

Thanks guys. That looks good too. It really blocks out a lot.

I was thinking about the safari mode too. I never had a soft top so does it take long toswitch between? I’m assuming no cause you just pull it back up and the side and rear panel are already out?

Takes about 20 seconds probably, unlock both sides of the bracket, pull the top it up until it clicks into position, then flip the front back down and lock it under the visors. even faster to put it back down again. It's saved my butt a few times when it started raining unexpectedly!

1 vote for spiderwebshade (I had one on my JK and picked one of for my JLUR). I looked in to the jtops one as it has a very solid following here and looks like a good product (and doesnt need the windshield to be dropped to put it on), but their unwillingness to ship to Canada and their complete and utter failure to reply to any of my questions steered me away from them.

I have spiderwebshades on both Jeeps. I have the JLKini on one and fullsize on the other. They feel more open than safari mode but still block a lot of sun.

Anyone have the 2 piece spider shade vs single? I kinda like the idea of the 2 piece.

right here, 2 piece, red spidershade, I went that way because I preferred the looks of it to the 1 piece. I leave it on under the hard top in the winter as well

Not Spyder, but Alien sunshades on my TJ and JL two-door ---worth their weight in gold in the South Texas sun.

I had the 2 piece Dirty Dog on JK. With my JL I just use the Dirty Dog front shade. I leave it on all year. I can tell you the sun shade will lower the temp in your jeep about 7 - 10 degrees on a hot sunny day. That was my first mod to the jeep.

I totally do, not merely for the reduction in heat you indicate, but for the reduction in UV rays it provides.
