I can't speak for everyone but if you like the open air feel but the sun's a bit too intense the Shade provides for some middle ground, I guess not that different from the option of going back inside when its too sunny out for one's taste, or propping open an umbrella as a compromise....I never understood the Sunscreen. Why bother. If the sun is too much, close the Sunrider. It's a product trying to find a use and market in my opinion.
One of us is wrong, or maybe your wording is confusing me--and the person who is wrong may of course be me.The shade is attached on the inside of the Sunrider and can be open or closed when the Sunrider is open.
It's very easy to use. If you remove the Sunrider (I do in winter), the shade stays attached to the Sunrider and stores with it.
I'm very happy with it-it allows me to enjoy keeping the top open longer.
For the JL, it's attached to the Sunrider. It can be removed, but could not be used without the Sunrider, if that's how I'm understanding your question. One of us is wrong, or maybe your wording is confusing me--and the person who is wrong may of course be me.
Perhaps the JL Sunshade, unlike that of the JK, is attached to (or through) the JL Sunrider's hardware (attachment points,) not directly to the vehicle, as in the JL, such that when the Sunrider is uninstalled the Sunshade must as well come off, and perhaps not be able to be attached again without the Sunrider being reinstalled.

From the picture I'm wondering of the Shade could be reattached after taking off the Sunrider, perhaps with the addition of some space-occupying and right-sized bushings used for Sunshade only install.
Ok..different from the JK..good to know...wonder if the Bestop Sunshade (or MOPAR version) for the JL always had these attachment points as the Shade (for the JL) took years to be introduced after the Sunrider for the JL.For the JL, it's attached to the Sunrider. I'll try to get some pics for you when I get out to the Jeep.
Yup, you got it. I'm sitting under it right now- these end brackets attach to the Sunrider frame and hold the shade.Ok..different from the JK..good to know...wonder if the Bestop Sunshade (or MOPAR version) for the JL always had these attachment points as the Shade (for the JL) took years to be introduced after the Sunrider for the JL.
I'll have to check my JL Sunrider, currently hold up a garage wall.![]()
