I had great luck with mine. There were a couple of fires, possibly fluid related, and there was a recall. The recall involved a new clutch of the same design. But the big problem was a software update that would throw errors for a lot of folks. The newest ones seem to be ok? I haven't really followed it since I traded mine for an auto.

There were at least 3 recalls worth of software "fixes" and to sum it up in two words "Shit Show" comes to mind. Fixing a hardware issue with software is rarely to right move.

Just get an auto, its one of the best auto's I've ever driven.

If you already have one, it will probably be fine. Aftermarket clutches all feel 1000% better but all seem to suffer from lubrication issues after 10k miles or so (factory clutches have also been reported to have some issues here but it is few). I know several 2018s that had the latest recalls done but they had 80k miles on them before they got a free replacement.

If you plan to regear and put larger tires, the latest software was known to put it into limp mode, but there are fixes for it now so not a big deal anymore.

I have a MT6, and so far so good. I did change the clutch spring which improved the feel a bit more. Outside of that, the Aisin transmission is smooth.

Is that your experience? I work through mud and sand pulling a trailer and my Jeep drives just fine. The clutch isn't optimal by far but I really enjoy driving mine. I'm post 19A recall and haven't gotten a "Clutch too hot" error.

I've had a JK and now the JL with manuals. No issues with either one. The JK had much longer throws.
