Hi all, I've been searching and reading on the forums about Stone/Bug deflectors. I have only seen one mention of real world performance with stone deflection. I'm very interested in stone deflection because I had to replace the windshield last year because of a stone. Just a few days ago I got a chip that was luckily able to be patched but I can still see the mark.

Thanks in advance for any and all information!

They don't really protect much besides hood paint. I had one on my truck for a while and have gone through 3 windshields. It's now off as it didn't really do anything. All the rocks that have hit my Jeep or truck windshield were high bouncers and easily cleared a hood deflector. As for bugs, they don't offer much there either. Personally, I'd save your money. Best investment I've made was adding windshield coverage to my insurance. It barely added anything to my annual premium and is $0 deductible - I have Progressive. Have had windshields replaced at my house for all of our vehicles and have never had an installation issue (3 times for my truck, 2 times for my wife's Ford Edge, and once for the Wrangler). All replaced due to rock damage.

I have the weather tech one on mine. Put it on about 3 days after I got it just to keep the edge of the hood from getting chipped. Zero issues with it and I can see lil knicks in the guard that would have been in my pain5 without it. Hard to see in the pic but it lays flat again the hood. Does t have the lil flip like some do

Thanks!

I was thinking that maybe the change in airflow direction off the deflector "might" help direct small rocks away. But realistically, that's asking for some strong physics. 😆
