I have a 2dr Sport S that I put a set of used BFG KO2 (33’s) on a little while ago. The seller said he’d only used about 5k miles on them but I’m sure it was a little higher than that. I’ve put about 5k on them myself and they seem to have about 10/32 tread left, or up to Abe’s eyes when doing the penny test.

Does anyone know what the recommended minimum tread for these is or what other people have been taking them down to before getting new ones? Since they’re used for off-roading I don’t think taking them down to the usual 2/32 is a good idea, but then again I don’t really know. I’m hoping to get at least 2 more years out of these things, and then upgrade to 35’s once they’re done.

TYRE WEAR INDICATOR
Tread wear indicators ("wear bars") are located at the base of the main grooves and are equally spaced around the tyre. The tread wear indicators, which look like narrow strips of smooth rubber across the tread, will appear on the tyre when that point of wear is reached. When you see these wear bars, the tyre is worn out and it's time to replace the tyre. Always remove tyres from service when they reach a remaining tread depth of two millimetres (2 mm). Another easy way to check is to do the coin test. Take a five cent coin and place it with Queen's head down in the tread groove. If the tread covers the top of the Queen's head, then your tyres are OK. If the tread does not cover the top of the Queen's head, it is time to replace your tyres.

They spend about as well as your desire to wear out your current tires before you upgrade to 35's. ?
