I’m looking to add some power step rails to make it easier to get into my 21 Rubicon XR. Does anyone have suggestions for the best brand/type of power step rails?

Do you plan on doing anything more off road than mild/medium trails? If not, AMP is the go to. If so, RSE $$$.

At this year's Moab Jeep Jamboree many people had Rock Slide Engineering's Step Sliders. Lots of great reviews there. I'm getting ready to order those along with the optional skid plates for my AEV JLUR that will hopefully be built by April.

RockSlide Engineering with skid plates appears to be the benchmark.

My brother is looking to get a pair so I snapped this photo of a JT with them last week. They are more substantial in real life than I was expecting. I like how well they matched the fender flairs. I’d say skip the rocker armor however.

Is there a specific reason to skip them?
Do you need the rocker armor? Are you prepared to drill and insert nutserts into the body of the wrangler?

If so, there are other companies who offer a full coverage armor skin.

For me it seems like the rocker armor requires a lot of damage to the body to try and protect the body. The RSE steps are pretty wide. I think it would be difficult to hit your body where the rocker armor is located if you already have the steps installed. If you do manage to damage your body there somehow you can always add the rocker armor later to cover it up.

RSE steps are very nice but I find my gen 2 steps are a bit short for rear passengers. If you have rear passengers regularly, especially kids, consider the gen 3 steps, which are supposed to be 2 inches longer at the back.

I was thinking that the damage would be to the RSE steps themselves.

I would add the RSE skid plates, the holes are already drilled so all you have to do is pound in the rivets on the side. The bottom is bolted on so it's not a big deal to install them.

Thanks for the pic. That clarifies it significantly.
