I took my brother-in-law wheeling for his first ever trip. He absolutely loved it. We met up with @BDinTX and rode half of the good trails in Bridgeport TX. There was an event last Sunday and the park was more crowded than I have ever seen it.
The mud was just the wrong level of hydrated and...
I had a pair of Rock Krawler no-limits sway bar links on my blue 392, and the links that were on Olaf were definitely binding well before the rest of the suspension. The Currie HD60 axles have a deep double shear mounting location for the passenger side sway bar link which was restricting the...
Dory popped up on the Jeep app today! Dory has been found but will not be retrieved. I have been joking with people that I hoped Dory was living her best Jeep life running drugs and not chopped up at some shop in Houston. It turns out I may have been at least partially correct!
One thing is...
Is it safe to run the bump stops as I have them now where max drivers side flex will be limited by bind instead of the bump stop? (No interference or contact at full bump when not articulating to the max)
Adding enough bump stop to prevent this will cut available up travel by over 50%.
I love...
Today I was working on fine-tuning my bump stop height and noticed that my passenger tire would bump deeper than the driver's tire before the Jeep started to lift off the jack stands. There is no interference when both wheels are pushed into the bump stops simultaneously. I cannot see anything...
After struggling with the power steering pump overheating in the 392, both before and after the Apex steering boost upgrade, and watching my wife struggle to turn Olaf’s wheel with the 37” tires at 9psi, I decided to upgrade to a PSC cylinder assist kit.
The installation process was...
Posting this as a reference for anyone currieous about properly measuring pinion or caster angles on the Currie HD60 axle set. I just finished installing a PSC cylinder assist kit and have been dialing up my caster to get to the 7 degrees recommended by PSC.
HD60 Front
HD60 Rear
When running 37” and larger tires, it can become difficult to turn the steering wheel when the tires are aired down below 15psi. This is especially true if the front differential locker is engaged or if the weight of the Jeep is pressuring the front wheels (IE uphill reversing). Hydraulic...
Last weekend, I started installing a PSC cylinder assist kit. PSC directed me towards the pully-driven pump over the electronic pump version, citing improved power. I'm around halfway finished with the installation. The OE electronic pump and OE steering gear have been removed. I have the...
After our first big trip in Olaf to Hot Springs I observed my wife struggling to steer the 37s at 9psi whenever we were in situations where there was pressure on the front of the Jeep. “Her” LJ already has hydro assist steering and since we trade Jeeps back and forth when wheeling as a family I...
@72Blazer & @BDinTX steering setups on the JLs are pretty convoluted between models based on my understanding.
The 392 steering gear doesn't seem to wander as much as the other JL steering gears, but the pump overheats pretty quickly due to the weight and heat of the engine. The Apex kit did...
I completed the first round of mods for our first major outing in Olaf to Hot Springs, AR.
Rugged G1 ADVENTURE SERIES Waterproof GMRS Mobile Radio JL Kit
Overall, I'm impressed with the radio's audio quality, and the customized harness for JL installation is a nice feature. I am not...
I started the wiring process for the Baja Designs S2 reverse lights. I used a coat hanger to fish a 16ga wire inside the frame from the front fender well to the rear receiver hitch. It makes for a clean wire run with essentially zero wire visible except for the 1" portion in the front fender.
Dory was stolen last week from the DFW airport. Here are some photos from our last big trip together.

Can a single Roadmaster 790 2-in-1-out diode be utilized to achieve this wiring scheme? I can’t find information specifying if the inputs on the 790 remain isolated from each other.
