All I want to do is be able to take the side windows and back window off, EG have a hard top version of the safari mode the soft top has.

Edit: the SOT looks like ass to me with the side windows out. Obv that's my own opinion.

Safari Mode really is the best version of the tops.

Stellantis really needs to go take a hard look at all of the problems Ford has had with their honeycomb layered roof before they jump on that bandwagon. Micro cracks and delamination are still a significant percentage of warranty claims and the only answer is a new roof.

If true this is sad
“If you told Jeep Wrangler customers they could only choose a removable top or 4x4 drive, we're willing to bet that more of them would opt for the roof.”
Just out of curiosity, why is this sad? The are two legit reasons to buy a Wrangler other than looks - off-road ability, and open-air freedom.

Why is it sad to use your purchase as intended?

We could turn this around as well- it is sad that so many people use there jeeps for off-roading and never remove the top.

Would it then become that the only un-sad way to use a Jeep is if both conditions are met- people who off-road with the top off?

Because the heart and soul of the Jeep is its ability to go anywhere. If you take the 4x4 away and just leave the removable top its no longer a Wrangler its no better than a convertible Murano.

Is that THE heart and sole of the Jeep, or the heart and sole for just a minority of owners?

By the same measure, it could be argued that a Wrangler with its top on is no better than a 4Runner?

I don't see 4WD being necessary in that photo. But the driver is easily visible without the top and doors.
The Wrangler sells like it does because of the image the Wrangler has, that same image of GIs beating the hell out of them across Europe. Its the go anywhere do anything vehicle and is marketed that way HARD by Stella. You dont see commercials of it in the mall parking lot, they are flinging sand at the beach, crawling rocks in Moab, or bombing along the whoops in the desert. Most people buy the Wrangler because they want to be seen as that rugged person. the fact that its sold with a hard top and now the SOT more than the soft top proves that the look of the wrangler is more important than easily putting the top down, or fully naked. Start taking away those things that make them able to do that and you take away what sells the Wrangler, you strangle its soul and you will kill that image and eventually the sales of the Wrangler.

However because those same people that buy the jeep for the image over the capabilities also easily delude themselves into thinking they will use the removeable top more than they do but know they will never see more than a grass lot at soccer practice. So saying they would rather give up 4wd over the removable top is easy.

What I see is that the heart and soul of the Wrangler is about freedom. It won freedom in the wars.

And now, to some freedom is being liberated of being confined to roads. To others, that freedom is being liberated of the top and doors.

To each his own, I don't see why one has to be sadder than another.

Go buy one of these and enjoy your freedom.

Are you telling me what to do? That doesn't sound like freedom to me.
You abandoned your argument real quick.
