Easy there, this is an simple 3 steps approach, Insult, flex your muscle a little, negotiate.
To be honest on this one I'm more in: let sit back and watch if he win is bet or not.
3 casino bankruptcies later I wouldnt put my money behind one of his bets

Anyways, I just bought a 1350 front driveshaft from Adams. Its made in USA but I don't know for sure where the steel is coming from, where the U-joints were made, or if the person who put it together is not an illegal alien who sends most of the money he or she makes back to Mexico. Or even the sticker, if the paper is made in USA or not.

I am going to install it this weekend. I will report back how it goes.

Notice how that’s only hurt our own well-being, and our trading partners and allies are re-aligning without us. Because they expect seriousness, and this? ..isn’t being serious.

Why do people keep thinking we have some savior here. Do you “really” think this time is going to be any different? Really?

Yea thats been the sentiment for a long time now and everyone always just keeps going back to buying the cheapest thing available, or the "best" no matter the cost. PC parts right now are a great example of it, the last tariffs made prices skyrocket and they stayed just as high meanwhile the products are sold as the same tier of performance while actually being below what they used to be based off die sizes.

But 80%+ of consumers arent going to spend hours researching to best $/performance and will default to what they have always done which just drives pricing higher. And now add in these new tariffs and good fucking luck. Who wants to spend $600+ on a Nintendo Switch? Not really anyone but they will sell shit loads of them because mindless consumerism.
what the hell is a Nintendo switch ?

You misread my comment: you won’t find American made lumber in Canada because of a tariff on American lumber. You won’t find American cheese in Canada, not because the French cheese is better, but because there is a tariff of over 200% on American dairy.

As for the F150: how about any Ford made in the US? I noticed you didn’t comment on the Jeep…

Australia is complaining right now because some idiot in this admin added Australia to the tariff list even though they don’t have a tariff on American beef(one of their largest US imports). Mexican beef was banned by Australia around 2003 because of the ”mad cow” scare and the ban is still in effect today.

Finally, my being wrong, short-sighted, partial and false: Is this your opinion, or do you have an example to add to this discussion?

I stand by my original comment that the media is gaslighting us. The level of education of most announcers is limited to how well they can read a teleprompter. I have never found anyone in the media that understands basic economics past balancing their own checkbook.
I did misread, and you’re still wrong. Canada imports huge amounts of US cheese. They also import US lumber. Stop believing idiots and at least google your wild assumptions first. Australia basically does not import US beef.

You are wrong here, that is fact, not a matter of opinion. But I can tell who you listen to, and they’re telling you lies.

Don't know how much the "bad taste in their mouths due to the current atmosphere" enters into it. The US has very few friends period. Most already don't like us & never did. Unfortunately we are addicted to cheap foreign made goods & buy them by the container ship full. I pray this trade war plays out the way this administration has mapped it out & the US levels the playing field. I believe it will but there will be pain.

We call this reduflaction around here, where you get less for the same or higher price. Now you are diving in a really deep society issue. I have my theory on this but this is something for a other pandemic.

Ya he is indeed going strong on this one, little too strong to my taste. If i was to be a risk taker I would see all this as big opportunity. For sure I keep my eyes peals for a little stock trading

Why do people seem to think the status quo was OK?? Why do so many seem to have forgotten the hundred's of thousands of jobs lost over the last four decades, the closures of so many businesses and erosion of tax base within so many towns and cities. Having spent a career in the auto component supplier industry I witnessed so much of this first hand. To be wholly dependent upon foreign nations for critical goods is OK? Do people really think this can be reversed overnight without some sacrifice?? Continuing to find the cheapest product through low cost labor countries was easy but only drove us further into a consumer country status living in our glass tower waiting to shatter at any moment. I'm not sold on all the current actions as being optimal but at least someone finally has a vision and is willing to act on it.

Those of us still in a longer game might have an opportunity to buy the dip. Those in a shorter game should realize recovery from the Great Recession took a good 4-5 years. My father, who is almost 80, is panicking over what to do. I question why he isn’t already invested in a safe haven. I want him to live forever, but he shouldn’t be buying green bananas at this point in life, or still chasing the market. His advisor is dead wrong right now. While some caution is good, it has to be weighed in the context of one’s own risk tolerance. The market isn’t reacting to market forces. It’s reacting to tweets, and that’s a very bad thing.

I pulled the cord when the market was just off its high and I’m glad I did so. It n my gut, this is wrong, and we are headed for dark times. I sleep at night knowing I’m earning 4.5% while this blows over, and the money I put in the market at this point is a pure gamble. It could be years and years before it sees typical historical growth.

And yet the economy has been strong and unemployment is about as low as it gets.

The economy is global and has been for a while. Undoing that is pointless, but keeping it is highly beneficial.

Businesses change and so should people. If your job goes away it’s time to retool and learn a new skill. This is also where education comes into play.

If a town dries up because industry leaves, bring in a new one, or leave it.

Depends on which countries. Free nations need not fear economically open commerce with other democracies. The benefits are real. Downsides—job losses, economic inequalities—will occur, yet these will be resolved through democratic actions in the societies involved, sooner or later, coming to some tolerable balance.

Open commerce with not-free nations—dictatorships and oligarchies—harbors deep risks. Power is more important to these rulers than prosperity of the societies over which they rule. And they can use our faith in “economics” to undercut our own industrial, economic, and social foundations.

Was it Lenin who spoke of capitalist selling rope?
Who said the only thing worse than allies in a war is no allies?

He never would have been able to convince anyone of anything if the media wasn’t so scummy in how they covered ANYTHING.
Hahahaha. The guy starts badmouthing Canada and just like that, every red hat wearing rube jumps on and belittles Canada. They follow and believe everything word that comes out of his mouth and no amount of proof will change their minds. Their idea of research is finding a source that tells them exactly what they want to believe to be true and everything else is automatically dismissed as lies.
I've yet to talk to a single MAGA supporter who is willing to call him on ANYTHING. Every single thing he says and does is beyond reproach. You would think insulting wounded vets would be an easy one to criticize. Nope, I couldn't get a single one to acknowledge that he said something stupid. It's a cult by every definition.

You do realize there is an entire entity over there, Ford of Europe. Ford operates there because making economy cars in the US and shipping them across the ocean to Europe isn’t cost effective. It’s like how Honda has Honda North America and builds cars in the US.

Stellantis is a multinational brand and has Italian factories. Why wouldn’t they sell vehicles manufactured there? The Jeep whatever they make there is actually an Italian car.

GM did very well in China for a long time. GM of South America was/is a bright spot.

But we’re upset that Europeans haven’t adopted full-size trucks?
