Steering Box Replacement TSB Programming

I have a 2018 JL 2 door with the aluminum steering box. If I replace it with the steel one, will I notice anything if I don't get the programming updated? The TSB refers to updating the EHPS to the latest available software, which I assume requires a trip to the dealer. I am hesitant to do that, as I have an aftermarket clutch and I changed the gears, and I don't want to have the slightest possibility of getting the updated manual software, and screwing everything up.

Sorry, I can't answer your question, buy Im in the same position. (18 JLU, Manual, regeared) My steering box is weeping and Im thinking about replacing it with the updated steel box but I don't want the dealership to update my transmission SW either.
