There is one hill in our town that goes pretty steep upward. We drive it every Friday to get to a swimming class and I noticed my JLUR seems to hang out in 3rd gear with 3500ish RPM when going up the hill.

I get that it’s probably doing it to produce more power but I feel like I’m pushing the engine and shifting to 4th would still have enough power. My old cars did fine and I’m wondering if anyone else has seen similar shift delays in areas that didn’t make sense.

3500 rpm is hardly pushing anything on that engine. Full load at lower rpms is more demanding on the engine. Any way, I drive a manual transmission, so I decide.

Mine hangs, I just reach down and pull the gear myself, then pop it back in D after the grade.
