My normal commuter is a Tesla model 3. I am constantly turning on the windshield wipers in my wife's car every time I try and put it in drive or reverse. And it feels like I am turning off an airplane just to put it in park, sent the e-brake and turn it off.... The Tesla you just push the button on the end of the right stick and get out. No key, no parking brake, no AC or ACC button, nothing, not even a door handle. just a button on the door. It even opens and closes the garage door when you are 20 feet away... And it drives itself, for the next 10 days of the free trial anyway... it's weird

That's how Remote start on manual transmissions work. Leave it in Neutral, that is normal. And Before someone on the forms that doesn't understand how it works says anything, its perfectly safe, all my manual transmission cars had remote start, I've never had an issue.
That's nice. The original poster has an automatic transmission.
