I want to jump at this but the power requirements are holding me back for now. Even the latest improved hardware draws 50+ watts.
The Jackery will run it for almost 17 hours. I have bought two to keep them rotated and charged up. I am hoping they will be here in a week or so.

Honestly, Starlink is/will be a huge game changer for active-duty military that constantly PCS to a new state every few years. Had this been available in my younger Airman years...I definitely would've signed up for it. I got stationed in rural places far out in the middle of nowhere ~cough,WhitemanAFB,cough~ that had shitty, overpriced, and ridiculously slow local internet providers holding a monopoly. Plus, moving to a new assignment and having satellite internet on day-1 would've been great.

Have not used ours as a portable unit yet. We get great speed no its not like fiber, but much better than the 10Mbps we had with DSL. I ordered it the min it came available but waited 1.5 years to come in... Starlink did not like my address.

What is your battery bank and how long will it support with out being recharged.
I have a Jackery Solar Generator 2000 Pro with two 200W panels. I originally ordered two 1000w units, but before they shipped I cancelled the order, and I ordered the 2000 back when they had the 4th of July sale.

At this point, I still have not tested it to its limit because I will not be full-time overlanding until late September/early October. I do not plan on being "up" on the internet all day. My thought process is to be on the internet for an hour or two in the AM and then another hour or two in the PM. The Jackey 2000 supports pass-through charging, so I do not foresee the Starlink being that much of a drain on the Jackery. The only thing I am continuously running is my Dometic CFX45 and my astrophotography gear at night, and the astro gear barely sucks electricity.

Darryl, please keep posting on the subject. Hoping to move from Weboost cellular (which is a dog) to this on my RV for working remotely. The wifey can run the Jeep to town while I work and play in the wild!

My understanding it is open pretty much everywhere in north America. If you pay the Mobil premium I believe it's 30 more a month now there is not a wait list, might be slower in congested markets but still better than cellular.

After a lot of planning I am finally getting around to ordering the things I will need to live out of my Jeep for the next few years.

First in is my Starlink Dishy with portability plan. It arrived about 5 days after I placed my order. Austin is saturated until 2023 so a friend of mine came to the rescue and let me use one of her addresses up in the Mojave Desert as my base address, and I had Elon ship it to my shop near Austin. Once I am on the road as a full time Overlander I don’t think I will be required to have a base address anymore. We will see.

I don't expect instantaneous speeds, but as long as I will generally be able to stay in touch with family and friends, and do basic internet stuff I will be happy. (Edit: I forgot to add the picture.)

We had no issues with coverage (some with clear view) on our 7 week 7k mile trip NC to Glacier to Ouray and everything in between. Plan on 100W usage while it’s up.

Full time remote work for both myself and my wife.
