To jump to 39s, I wouldn't just change pads. You need bigger brakes.
Yeah, that was my original thought. I’m thinking the HD brakes because everything else seems like overkill in cost for capacity I don’t need. My rears will get upgraded when I swap the rear axle. Probably a currie semi-float. Although I forgot that doesn’t come with brakes so a 4 caliper set wouldn’t be the waste I thought when I made the original post.

I don't think I'd be confident with less than something like the Teraflex Delta brakes. 39 inch tires are a lot larger than anything the JL is designed for. Braking is really all about those emergency situations and 39s have likely absolutely killed your 60 to 0 stopping distance. There's a big difference between wearing pads quick around town and panic stops for traffic or people stepping out into the street.

Any obvious issues with the Baer Pro kit? I'm iffy on Teraflex because they get a bad rap from overseas manufacturing and lack of support. I think one of the reviews I read said something about corrosion and pitting where Teraflex said he didn't wash enough. My Jeep lives in winter and offroad environments almost exclusively.

Wilwood has a kit too but I think you need 18" wheels to clear the 6 pot calipers.

I've driven on my Teraflex Delta brakes now for a couple hundred miles. They are an incredible jump in braking.

I'll be "that guy" and say nothing you are going to do to OEM brakes (Rubicon or otherwise) is going to provide the stopping power needed for 39" tires. They can't do it for 37's so there's that.

Having just installed Teraflex brakes, I would say take a hard look at them for a major upgrade...

I read some reviews they don't age well, and per the norm the manufacturer blames the customer for the corrosion (even though they use standard steel pistons, not stainless or aluminum). However, upon going back that review looks like it was for the big brake kits. Still not my idea of a good time working with someone who will blame us for their design choices, kind of like our stock clutches.
Also, my wheel seems to be in the "gray area" for compatibility. I've seen 4.5" and 4.75" quoted as maximum backspacing, and mine is 4.63".

Ok, just found this. According to them the delta brakes are not compatible with my wheels. So it looks like I'll go Baer (the smaller one, not the pro+). I'll print the template Thursday at work (last day in the office). Our movers load our truck tomorrow, so this will likely be a first project in Virginia when I arrive.
Rears will likely wait until I swap axles.
