Spent lots of time understanding when a spare tire relocation kit is needed, but still have the following question since most threads focus on tire sizes but not offset.
I have a 2023 JLUR FXE. New 17x8.5 0 offset wheels on the way and plan on keeping the stock 33s. 0 offset 17x8.5 will push the wheels out a little less than 2". I'm sure the stock tire carrier can handle it short term especially since wheels are lighter than stock, but is the offset potentially going to cause issues down the line on the stock tire carrier due to shifting the tire outward from the gate?
I know some of aftermarket carriers are adjustable for offest, just dont know it's necessary here. I was looking at the cavfab and terraflex kits but feel like they might be overkill and unnecessarily heavy. Trying to keep the weight off the fatty fxe but also want things done right.
If I did move up to 35s ( well 315s ) I would stick with the ko2s which would keep the wheel tire weight right about 85lbs so still not necessarily concerned about tire size/weight on stock tire carrier, but again is a 0 or negative offset going to potentially cause problems without aftermarket reinforcement/adjustment?
