You can look at Yakima if you're wedded to a spare tire mounted rack, but you would likely be happier with a hitch mounted rack. The Kuat Beta basically operates like a spare tire mounted rack but with the advantage of being a hitch mount, and their platform racks are the bee's knees.

You need the JL compatible option for the Allen for the backup camera to not he obstructed.

That may depend on the bike, a road bike would probably be fine but I don't know if I would want to use the Allen for heavier mountain bike -- and dang sure not for an eBike.

The Allen also prevents you from opening the rear gate, and a bike or two on the rack is probably going to have a pretty negative impact on the effectiveness of the rear camera anyway.

Not sure if you installed it correctly, I never had any issues opening the rear gate or it blocking the camera it was specifically designed to not block.

Once the bikes are loaded, it's a good idea to bungee them down to prevent excessive movement.

I've had some non light bikes on it, of course read the manual for the weight limit.

Yakima SpareRide is simple to fit and has anti-sway cradles that stop bikes from rubbing; great if the spare is centered and a bike rack bag for straps/tubes keeps everything tidy on trips.

I'm also looking for something like this that can also be used for skis.

The problem is, I have a so-called "girls'" bike, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to balance on a rack.

if by girl, you mean a step-through, they sell a removable bar that you attach at the handle bar stem and the seat stem

having said that thou, I have the Allen one and it’s not “optimal” for more than 1 bike even thou it has the mounting option for 2 bikes, at least in my experience, anyone going with the Allen, make sure you get a strap to secure the bikes from bouncing

Does the Beta fit behind the spare or do you need an extension?

Thule has a frame adaptor bar for hanging mountain bike or girls frames. About $50. I haven’t gotten around to getting one for my e-bike. I have a Quadratec carrier. Nothing special but it works ok. A couple bungies to keep the bikes from bouncing around.

You will likely need an extension, but those are pretty cheap (or expensive, depending on how much you want to spend! I use the Kuat NV2 with the Pivot swing away hitch, so even with bikes loaded on the rack you can swing it out of the way and open/close the rear door and glass of the Jeep. Makes everything pretty pricey, but really nice if you transport your bikes often).
