We've been using a Yakima rack for our Gazelle T8 and a large waterproof bag for other items. Inside we have two people, two 120 lb. dogs the fridge and other odds and inns packed using every conceivable space. It works ok for a couple of nights but anything longer is pushing it. Would love a Patriot or other true overland camper but cannot justify the cost for our limited overland travels. Thinking a space trailer might be the ticket. Gets the T8 off the roof and much more storage than we currently have. Our overlanding mostly consist of forest service roads in N.C. and Ark. I think adding an articulating hitch with the higher mount option would give us everything we need for any of the trails we would encounter while hauling the trailer. Looking to see if others have the Space Trailer and if it does well behind the jeep. Also if anyone has added an articulating hitch.

I have a similar setup and came to the same conclusion. After looking at Patriot, Turtleback, and a host of $30K-$45K overland trailers I decided I could build my own. I'm having a blast building it but I have to say it's a bit like remodeling a house, it will cost way more and take way longer than you think. But if you want to be away from the grid for anything over three days this is a great way to go.

Still not finished, took the RTT off the Jeep and making the brackets to mount it to the trailer:

Lots of questions on your trailer build…

-what storage box did you use on the front?
-what stabilizers are you using for the rear?
-what bed rack are you using? it looks like it’s universal which might help me with mine build.
-what box are you using for the electrical panel?

I am building a trailer as well using a military trailer I don’t have any specs on. I know from the auction I got it, that it’s from the local military base. It’s pretty light duty with mostly aluminum diamond plate and atv wheels/tires and a 1-7/8” ball.

That's lookin fantastic! I'd love to build a trailer like this, but first I have to finish our bus. Definitely feel the building a house thing. Every next step it's more tools to buy. We're taking the opposite approach. Most people build a trailer to go with their Jeep.

We bought our jeep to go with the Bus we're building ?

Wow, that is an amazing build on the trailer. As others have asked, if you have a build write up or any other info on the parts and process please let us now.

The front storage box and fenders are custom built.

The stabilizers are from etrailer, I don't remember the model but its obvious which ones they are
The bed rack is from here: https://www.uptopoverland.com/collections/roof-racks
I originally purchase a cheap Chinese components off Amazon, spent a couple of days wiring it up, plugged it in and the fuse block went up in smoke immediately. I spent some time checking the wiring to make sure I didn't do anything stupid, when I opened up the fuse block a sodder had failed and shorted out. I replaced the components with stuff from Blue Sea, still might be Chinese but appeared to be much better quality.

Sorry, I have not done a write up of the build. I have taken several pictures, if I get the chance maybe I'll write something up. I'm old and never think about doing that sort of thing...
