Hi there, I am looking for information with regards to how to deactivate the SOS emergency button next to the rear view mirror top console. Where I live this feature does not work as we don’t have the U connect sim link connectivity. However my issue is that if I push this button it would stay on (flashing green) and wouldn’t turn off even when I press again, and worse the u connect system stays on even when I turn the car off and lock doors. Tired and waited for about 20 minutes. The only way is to reset the system by pulling the fuse out.
This is a minor nuisance, but an issue if SOS activated accidentally.
Trying to figure out a way to disable the whole thing. Used OBD JScan to look for the specific module but couldn’t find any.

Try disconnecting the battery and pulling the fuse.
This is what I do when the button is pushed.
however looking for permanent solution to eliminate all together.

Isn’t there a connector on the back side of the switch that could simply be unplugged? I’ve lowered the surrounding trim piece to run wiring but didnt notice.

I've owned my JL for over 5 years and I can't say I've ever pressed this button on this vehicle. I had to go to the driveway just now to find where it's located. It looks like it's in a position that would be unlikely to be pushed.

But every couple years, I press that button on my GMC pickup, just to see what happens. The onboard phone (which I don't have any subcription for) calls the Onstar operator and a person answers with "Onstar Emergency Services. What is your emergency?". I beg out by saying pushing the button was an error. I suspect the jeep is the same.

What's everyone doing (or trying to do) when they "accidentally" push this very much out of the way button? Not a dig on anyone at all; it's just, my hands have never seen a need to be up there.

I'm picturing a bunch of Wrangler drivers talking with their hands in a frenzied manner.

true button is quiet hard to accidentally push, but could happen when cleaning/detailing the interior for example…
