Never any issues
Recently on a hunting trip with cold temperatures, I did experience some death wobble. And it’s still pops up when I hit the right bump the right way. The only thing I did was a did accidentally sort of tried to reverse over a stump with my front passenger side tire ( that is the joint in the video ) and I did run over a cargo rack that was made from aluminum accidentally as well LOL but just a little bit

I checked the wheel bearings, ball joints, track bar, typical death, wobble stuff and yes, I did read the thread about JL death wobble

The only thing that I see or notice weird is that my steering wheel has slightly caulked from where it was. And I have this clunk/noise from that joint.

I ordered the cab fab 2.5 ton steering kit

What do y’all think?

update, I can’t post a video, but it has essentially horizontal play. If you grab the end of the tie rod and pull it towards you I can’t physically see it move, but I can hear there is some sort of either resistance or clunk noise. Same thing if I twist it like a motorcycle throttle it does move.

Not sure if I mentioned, but the steering stabilizer that was on it had some oil staining near the seal and all over that area. I had a spare that was new that I threw on. I know that kind of just masked the wall will just curious what anyone has to say.
Thank you

My 2-door has a wobble and I’ve finally decided that tires were being the culprit, however I installed a FOX ATS and all is good now. Big band aid, but it works.

Odds are you have some wear that is starting to show up. The tie will roll like you see but can still be fine.

Checking ball joint is the JL/JT platform is different so the old bar under the tire and lift doesn't work. You need to check for resistance while turning the tires. If there is a still or soft spot it is an issue. The pressure should be consistent.

Feel free to give me a call at Metalcloak and I can go over some stuff with you in better detail.

I appreciate the input. So you are saying out front on Jack stands and steer the jeep via the tire and feel for stiff or weak spots in the turning cycle?

I will try when I get home. Steering already ordered, but I guess if it don’t fix it i can try BJ’s.

Yep, You got it. I will normally unbolt the stabilizer from the tie rod just to make it easier to move.

Alright so, after changing my steering. I still feel not right. There is a shimmy not a “desthwobble” when I hit an occasional bump. I feel like the steering is still loose. I toed in 1/16” only thing I did notice upon taking apart the front end was it seems the knuckles will almost flop backwards not stay in one position. (I did not check caster) don’t have my angle finders any longer) plan was to do all work and take to local 4x4 shop for rack alignment.
Also….i do feel a left pull almost always while driving. Not crazy but enough to notice and on braking it’s very evident. (This is the side where the knuckle that would flop back)
thoughts?

ball joints?
if yes anyone have any experience with Apex?
