In the market to replace my spacer lift. I am looking at the rough country 3.5 kit, I like the fact that it comes with the DS. Came across the Rancho kit as well which doesnt have the DS but does come with adjustable control arms front and rear which i like. Is anyone running either of this kits?

Edit: Budget lol I can spell.

damn fat fingers lmao
I was just giving you shit.

It is nice that the driveshaft comes with the RC kit. Do you plan on off roading often where the suspension will be greatly articulated? If not, you stock shaft will be fine.

Rancho makes quality products and I heard that their springs are pretty soft where some of the brands are very stiff.

I have the Skyjacker 3.5/4 inch kit. They make a kit for the Sport/Sahara and a Rubicon Specific kit. On previous model jeeps I would not have considered Skyjacker due to the funky bracket. However their JL kit is nice. I ditched the cam bolts and went with geometry correction brackets. It rides well. Springs are firm. I ended up with 5 inches of lift up front and 4.5 in the rear. They also sell a 2.5 inch kit which I'd assume nets 3-3.5.

If you have a Rubicon, I'd suggest going with a smaller kit unless you plan on running 40s.

I've had the Rancho 3.5" Non-Rubicon sport lift (part number RS66124BR9) since July of last year. It's a serviceable lift that will do the job off road. I do recommend getting the Geometry Correction Brackets to go with it due to the height of the lift, unless you're getting control arms. My kit doesn't have them. I noticed significant steering improvement with those brackets.

IMO, the biggest downside to the Rancho lift is the ride. It will be MUCH rougher than stock. You can help this by deflating your tires but that is only a marginal improvement. On the upside, I've taken my JLU Sport S over some moderately challenging trails and the Rancho lift has proved itself to be quite capable. I paired mine with 35" Falken Wildpeak ATW3s. The roughest trail I've hit with it is Illinois Gulch in Colorado. The only thing I didn't do on that trail was the hardest part of the Mini Moab steps where Jeeps on 37s were having a challenge.

I'm probably going to upgrade this to a new kit this year. It got me off roading last summer and we had a great time but I'd like to find something that gives me better on road ride comfort.

Rancho is one of the softest riding lifts especially if you get the Rancho RS9000 shocks which are adjustable for ride. That is why I chose Rancho as well most of the big retailers also agreed Rancho had the softest ride. It is also a very affordable lift. However going 3.5 needs wither Geo brackets or adjustable control arms.

Keep in mind I have Sahara which has the softest ride of all the wranglers preserving the ride was very important. I am totally satisfied with the Rancho ride. It is important to note any Lift is going to change the ride, you then have to determine how stiff are the springs and the shocks when comparing.

I like the idea of the Rancho kit coming with adjustable control arms front and rear to enable the proper position of the axles. and the 9000 shocks with their adjustability. With their rebate right now I would be able to get the lift w/shocks for right at 2k. Whats the going rate for a front driveshaft??

I am currently running the RC spacer lift with 35s. I do a fair amount/plan to do of off roading. the current set up has gotten me by for the most part but there are a few times where the extra ground clearance/flex would have helped. I am looking at moving up to 37s as well.

Rancho has great tech support call them directly for your questions, you will actually be able to talked to someone in the know... While I did the 3.5 Rancho lift on my Sahara I discussed with them directly about needing the linger shaft, they insisted it was not needed, Rubicon may be different though
