Yesterday I bought a 20 Unlimited Willys with a hardtop V6 and said no to a soft-top V4.

Was that a mistake for Wisconsin? Salesgirl wasn't very outgoing and I understand that the soft-top was either open or closed. Did I miss something? Now knowing that they're accessories for the tops?

I'd love a soft top but for the dumbest rear window design ever.

I prefer a hardtop. That being said, you can always buy a soft top later on if you decide that's what you want. You may also consider just replacing your freedom panels with a Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop, which will give you the best of both worlds. Best mod I've done for my old JKU and my new JLU.

if you pull the hardtop off and leave the Sunrider on (looks like a pain to take that off) won’t it look dumb.?

I have the 4 cylinder Willys with a soft top and I’m so glad I made that decision. I had 2 hard top JK’s before this one and the top was one of the main reasons I traded in. As far as the 4 cylinder goes I’m highly impressed and I’m even happier I went that route, the difference between this and my 2016 JK is very noticeable especially when I go to pass someone on the highway.

The V4 would have been a mistake...., Actually can't go wrong with soft or hard top. I'm in Phoenix I have the V6 convertible and my Cheese head wife steals it all the time. The turbo inline 4 seems fine, better gas mileage a little more bottom end torque. V6 simple proven. Hard top great in the winter, Its hard to scrape windows in the convertible and the rear window defrost is useless.... Like some one else said the Best Top Sunrider will be a great option May thru October. Welcome to the club Don't forget to Wave....

Both. I have a 2 door so the dual top was not an option when ordering so bought one from their parts department while they were having a discount sale on parts. In cold weather climate hard top is good - warmer, easier to remove frost, with brine salt on the roads don't want to deal with white coating on soft top. Spring, summer, fall the soft top rules. Flip the front back to sunrider, or take off the windows, or flip the top all the way back or take it off.

a disadvantage to the Sunrider is you can’t use a sunscreen with it.
With the freedom panels i can leave the sun shield in place and when i pop the top panels there is still some degree of protection from the direct sun and theft.

If only there was a top that is both soft and hard.

I've never done this and have no plans to. I don't see the point. The Sunrider is designed to replace the hardtop Freedom panels. If I wanted to pull the hardtop, I would have gotten a soft top as part of the dual-top option when I purchase my JLU. That being said, I think you'd have to ask Bestop if it is recommended to run just the Sunrider without the hardtop.

Sure you can. I had a sunshade with my Sunrider in my JKU and plan I getting one to use with the Sunrider in my JLU.

Plenty of guys do. It's 100% possible. I installed one of the Alien copies and didn't like having a shade. That's just me and had nothing to do with the combo....but functionality of the Sunrider is still 100% with a shade in place

So I guess that there is a way to reach your hand thru the sunscreen to fold back the sunrider.
I know I can reach round the edges of my sunscreen to release the latches on the freedom panel and remove those.
Didn't think you could fold back a sunrider from the inside with the screen in place.

Good to know since that was a big drawback for me.
