Going from a 2-door TJ to a JLUR and question on the prem sunrider top....finally nice enough on east coast to open her up and wondering if I have it right. When open and secured it seems to still stick up quite a bit. Anyone have any pics of theirs open or tips i missed?

For clarification:

Your title says Sunrider. To me this is when you just flip the top back on position. Are you talking about this or are you talking about when you lower the entire top down to the back?

I don't have my JL yet but I know in my JK yes it does not lay very flat so to speak. I think to be sure a picture as they say is worth a thousand words. Can you post a pic?

I think I understand what you are saying...yes it is clearly visable and sticks up a bit when folded down. If you want the naked look you would need to totally take it off. That is why I prefer a hardtop...although if there is a chance of rain or you want to keep dust out if its sitting very long...you would need to invest in a water proof toneau cover if you get the hard top. If you you get caught in a rain storm while driving your just SOL...lol.

I know in my JKU, when I just have it in the Sunrider position it balloons up when I drive. I always wondered if I was doing something wrong because it seems like it should be tucked down lower.

Isn't that what the velcro straps are for? I can't imagine it balooning up if you strap the rails tight.

It doesn't balloon up and blow open... Just the middle of it puffs up (the excess fabric that makes a "W" shape when folded). I've seen it on other Jeeps and mostly happens on the highway, not at slower speeds.

No more balloon effect on the JL like the JK when in sunrider mode. Yes the top will stick up a couple inches higher when in sunrider mode.

It will stick up In a trifold pattern like the picture make sure you wrap the Velcro straps around the supports per the OM - it stays put I have had mine in this position a lot because I am too lazy to take everything off.

You should have two Velcro straps to secure in Sunrider mode. Check your manual for placement.
