Although I typically drive my 2-door Sport in safari mode, I decided to flip the Sunrider portion back today and enjoy a little more Spring breeze. However, when I flipped it forward and attempted to secure both latches to the windshield frame, I noticed that the latch on the driver's side didn't secure as thoroughly as the passenger side latch. The top looks fine otherwise, is in its proper position, and there are no obstructions. I flipped the top back and re-secured it multiple times, but still had the same results.

While everything looks OK, I am a little concerned about the security of the driver's side latch, if others are experiencing the same issue, and if it can somehow be adjusted. Thanks for any/all advice and happy Jeepin'!

FWIW, I stuck a folded-up piece of paper in the hole where the hook goes, which provided a little more resistance and a more secure hold. Granted, it's a bit hokey but at least it's hidden when the sun visor is up.

While I love my JL, it is disappointing that we have to find creative ways to address all these little "Jeep things." I sort of expect this in my 1980 CJ-5, but a 2021 Jeep shouldn't require work-arounds like this....especially at the exorbitant prices we pay.

There should be some adjustment available in the latch piece that is attached to the Jeep to tighten that up.

Can you get a rubber tube that can be placed on the area to make the latch pull harder?? Used to have to do that on my JK.

@flyer92 It's adjustable. I don't know the procedure but the dealer adjusted mine.

Yep...that was the first thing I tried. Adjusted both the latch assembly and the receiver to their maximum tolerances with little improvement.

For now, the expedient folded-up paper technique is working pretty well, although I think the tubing idea would also be effective. Only challenge there, is finding tubing with a wide enough diameter to accommodate the hook, but with a wall that's thin enough to allow the hook to fully engage.

I have to adjust my drivers side windshield side connection each time I put the sunrider on as well to tighten it up. Then move it back again when I put the freedom panels back on. Kind of a nuisance. I wonder if loosening the two bolts on the drivers side sunrider connections above the door and pushing the bracket back towards the rear of the Jeep taking up whatever slack there is in the holes would help? I’ll have to try that.
