I ran Rancho 9000XL on my last Jeep. Worst shock on any vehicle I have ever owned in 45 years. Replaced them very quickly.

Valving was strongly progressive so they managed to have both a very rough ride and under-dampening at the same time. Using the adjuster they could be made much worse but no better.

Many other people swear by them so I don't know if they got better shocks than me or are not as sensitive to stocks as me.

I have a Sport with Rubicon takeoffs and haven't paid much attention to the shocks but I think they are starting to wear. My suspension has 50k miles and I do a lot of trails and a lot of highway driving. Occasionally I'll hit a big bump on the highway and it feels like the front axle is moving too much and the rebound isn't damped well enough. This morning I took off a front shock to test it. Of course it's the factory gas charged shock so it is hard to test without completely removing it. Any shock testing like this is by feel and it feels like it is still working like a shock. I compared it to the old Sport shocks which aren't gas charged. The Sport shocks feel the same going both directions. The Rubi shocks being gas charged are a lot stiffer on jounce and they rebound fairly fast considering the gas assist. So maybe my shocks are OK or maybe they are reduced in effectiveness a little bit, I can't tell. Reading this thread it sounds like Bilstein 5100s would be the best easy replacement.
