Yesterday I ordered 2019 Rubicon with Advanced Safety Group (ALP) and Safety Group (AJ1), will be switching out stock plastic bumpers with Metalcloak front and LOD rear. Got to thinking about where the sensors are located and whether bumper change will affect sensors (I really thought I researched everything, but not). Has anyone had any problems with sensors and aftermarket bumpers, or is anyone in the know of sensor(s) location. Dealer didn't know, tried calling Jeep to no avail. Thanks for any input.

rear sensors are located in bumper for sure. Not sure about front, but they are typically not bumper mounted. Evidence suggests they are integrated to the mirror or grille area.

I’m bringing my 2018 JLU Sahara to LOD today so they can test their fix to a small issue they had with the rear sensors (only happened with an oversized tire). I would just say that no matter what brand you buy, make sure you buy one with the sensor holes. Most company’s are making two models, one for Park sense, and one for those who don’t have it.

This is exactly what I was wondering too! There are aftermarket bumpers that have spots for the rear sensors but if that front sensor is in the grill and the front bumper comes up too much that may effect the ability to use cruise control? It seems like there's no info on it's location. I think I may leave it off just in case bc that front bumper is coming off day 2. LOL

I thought I'd follow up on this thread and double check/reconfirm. There are no sensors in the front bumper, correct? I've a JLRU on order with all the special safety features and I'd like to transfer my front JK bumper over to the JL (Aberle, kind of unique). Other threads indicate that can be done. From what I'm seeing all the front sensor magic occurs at the mirror. The rear bumper has sensors, brake-lights have sensors, but there is no note of front bumper mounted sensors, that I can find anyway.

That would be good news. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

I have a '19 with advanced safety group and factory steel front bumper - no sensors on bumper.

There has to be 100's of forum members that have replaced their rear bumpers with the sensors. Are their any issues related to this? Messages on the dash etc??
