2019 Ocean Blue Sahara 2.0 JLU FINALLY HERE!
Brand new JLU owner, just picked up my 2.0 Sahara with Selectrac last Friday.

Is the only disadvantage of simply keeping it in 4H Auto gas mileage and wear? I was somewhat surprised that there was even a 2H option at all...thought it would be like the Grand Cherokee where it is full time AWD. For my wife it may be easiest to just leave it 4H Auto if that is OK.

You are correct - you can leave it in 4H Auto all the time with just the disadvantages that you mentioned (as far as I know, but I'm pretty confident). I've only had mine for less than a week and have switched between that and 2H a handful of times, but really only because I can.

My rule of thumb going forward is if I'm on dry pavement then go 2H, but if wet/snowy/icy/dirty then throw it in 4H Auto. But for those who want to keep it simple - 4H Auto is perfect!

You pretty much nailed it. Another way to approach it would be to leave it in 4H Auto during the winter months when you could encounter bad weather, and switch to 2H in April and leave it there all summer (except when going offroad, of course).
