Just wanted to post a question regarding the JLU front seat mounting hardware. The front seats are held to the body via 4 bolts. My understanding is that 3 of the 4 captive nuts in the body that these bolts thread into are loose once the bolts are removed. By loose I mean that they have a side to side slop in them to absorb tolerance between the seat frame and these mounting points. The 4th nut, closest to the front of the vehicle/center console, is welded in place and has no slop.

I ask this question because my dealership was working to replace my driver side seat base (it pops) and they thought these 3 captive nuts having slop was a wrong. Granted, they didn’t know this for certain, but they somehow convinced themselves they should send my JLU to a body shop to have these welded. I pointed out to them that both passenger and driver side seat nuts do this, and they checked and confirmed I was right. They then agreed with me and called off the weld idea.

Can anyone else confirm my view on this? I know the JL is new, but it shocks me that the technicians wouldn’t know or have access to such information.

Hello

I have not looked into the cause yet but noticed the passenger seat makes a loose pop noise when it is occupied around a turn. It also makes a noise if I push on the backrest side to side. Maybe the same issue? Also have rattling noise in the Drivers side B pillar over bumps. Sounds like the seatbelt height adjusting mechanism. But that’s a separate issue

I’ve got the exact same thing going on. Have you figured it out yet? I just learned I could duplicate it moving the seat back. Haven’t looked closely or found a solution.

Dealer replaced the passenger seat track for me under warranty and it fixed the popping
Same with my 2019, the passenger seat track was replaced 2 days after purchase. It was a common enough problem that the dealer had a stock of replacement parts on hand.

Yeah trying to remove driver seat but front left corner nut under carpet inside body seems like it a wing nut in there or something . I’m afraid to back the bolt out all the way and it fall deep inside floor body . Anyone else removed JL seats? (mine 2021)
