Hi! I'm new to the Jeep world. We are really loving our new JL Sahara, this thing is awesome! I need some help though, my dog scratched the back of our bumper today :( It's the black plastic bumper. Is there anything I can put on it to get these scratches out? We paid extra for Resistol to be put on the exterior and interior but from the paperwork I can find it doesn't mention plastic. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you!!

Without seeing pictures, I am not sure.

But if the dog did it getting in and out, consider putting a thin protective pad there, like what you you can put on the interior door sills ( paint protectors ).
That way, you cover the scratches and have a good grip surface for the dog to get in and out with.

I would not do paint, but might consider doing something with a Truckbed coating product.

The gouges are there to stay. It's a plastic thing. You might try Wipe New or Wipe Nu to get some cosmetic relief. Otherwise replace the bumper. Too late to kill the dog and too late to buy the steel bumpers. Ignore the "kill the dog" we've got three of them. Got scratches on most of my life and body but not on my steel bumpers yet. Enjoy life!

Here's a picture. I like the idea of the pad but these go up the side. I was worried it was a plastic thing :(

Yes, those are just cosmetic, BUT they can be really irritating. When you go off-road, branches will do the same to the front bumper. Sometimes a product like Back To Black will help hide them, but nope, they are there for good.

There are a few ways to try and fix them, but I would just do a pad on them. Find some adhesive backed sheets that you like ( like for stair treads ) and put them on in a way you like.

I still suggest Wipe New "as seen on TV". You should try to live with a JK Rubicon for a few years in it's all black plastic glory that's been driven through the "pucker brush" in Utah and Arizona. Pucker brush is the stuff that makes you pucker from your lips to your behind when it drags down the sides of your Jeep. Wipe New and some compound convinced the buyer of our 2012 Rubicon that it had only been lightly wheeled. Didn't abuse our Rubicon just used it for what it was built for.

Thank you! I'm gonna try that and if it doesn't work I'm going to look into getting a little pad to cover it. Eeek, we don't have bushes like that where we are....I think I would cry lol.

Any idea where I could find this or what it would be called?
