Well since my Saturday plans are now famously cancelled I'm looking to do a run somewhere. I'm trying to convince a friend of mine to do Drinkwater OHV tomorrow.

Anyone interested? Could also do something easier and chill. Just want to get the Jeep out on some dirt.

Already have plans this weekend unfortunately. Guess I'll have to wait another week before I wheel again

Dang, saw this late. Already planned to run Old City Creek Rd and Clark’s Grade to BB (scenic/easy).

Not sure if Drinkwater goes there, but I’ve been wanting to check out the St. Francis dam site for a while.

It looks like the trail goes right past it. If you change your mind we're meeting tomorrow at 730AM to run the trail.

I don't know why I even say I'm going to do something easy and chill. That never happens. 😂

We ran Drinkwater 4x4 which is black diamond rated (who rates these? Is it the National Forest Service?). This trail is a whole lot of steep uphills followed by even steeper downhills. The trail follows the ridge above Drinkwater flats. We then hit a service road but quickly got bored and cut up the mountain and ended up on Deer Trail. Deer Trail connects with Del Sur so we took that down the mountain.

We were out till about noon and the temps starting hitting triple digits so we decided to call it a day and head to grab some lunch.

Beginning climb up Drinkwater. It was easier going up than it was last time going down:

One of many uphills:

A few pics before we headed down Quarry to the road:

Airing up! Jeff's tires aired up twice as fast as mine did. We then discovered it was because only the passenger tires had aired up. He has the same Speedflate system as I do. Any theories on how only one side aired up? If the driver's side weren't connected properly the whole system would be leaking air. This was a head scratcher for us:

Towards the end of the run I did end up with my Jeep in a ditch. Don't drive hangry, folks. 🤣 Stay tuned for pictures of that. I'm waiting for my friend to send them over to me. I took no pictures of this as I was preoccupied by being sideways in a ditch.

Re:speedflate Gotta be a problem with the split up front. Are there valves you open? Could it be clogged on one side?

It splits like this. It would be weird that it was clogged. He used it once at Miller and it worked fine. This was the second time he used it.

I don’t see how it could possibly air up one side unless there was an obstruction

Airworthiness date: 1/26/1970… 54 years young!

Aerobatic rated—tell me you spun or looped it. :please:
My first time in it. I've spent all my time in a 172. But the 172 is down right now with a bad artificial horizon so I jumped in with Johnny for a few laps in the pattern before he did the EAA Young Eagles flights.

My CFI is an aerobatic pilot (he also has a Pitts) and aerobatic flying is planned, just focusing on finishing my PPL first. Check ride is scheduled for next month.
