Sap Stuff on Paint

Anyone know what this stuff is? Drove through something. Took to a body shop and can’t get off. It’s not tree sap. Any ideas on how to get it off? Not even Acetone is working…

I've had some success getting gunk off by spraying it with WD-40 then wiping it off and washing that off with soapy water. Not going to tell you that I know its safe for paint but I've never had any issues with it.

Is it a substance on top of the paint, or is it a "stain" in the clear coat? I.e. can you feel it with your hands?

Yea it feels like maple syrup buts it’s literally cemented on there.

Yea you can feel it with your hand where it’s bubbled out and also where it’s flattened.

I have had success with getting road tar off with BUG at TAR remover.

On our old Grand Cherokee we had a cat walk across it after walking in paint and used a clay bar with success as well.

Tree sap tends to wash off with good car soap as well.

A bit more hardcore than the most products, Stoner Tarminator is petroleum distillate based and will literally melt the tar off.

With any of these recommendations, I would be sure to wax after.

Looks nasty, like creosote. Do you have lumber mills in your area?

Try mineral spirits on a micro fiber cloth. I won't hurt your paint. What ever you use, make sure to rewax that area when you are done.

If Acetone won't touch it, that's some real bad stuff. Keep us posted. I've never had anything on any paint that WD-40 wouldn't at least soften.

Spray on, allow to sit for 20 minutes, then wipe (with some elbow grease) off.
