I have a Sahara ordered and I picked up JL Rubicon tires 285/70/17 from another JL wrangler forum member. I want to add XD RG1 wheels that are 17 x 8.5 with a +25mm offset. The tire shop that I called initially said that the +25mm offset wouldn’t work because of the brakes and that I needed less offset. He said he called KMC the wheel manufacturer who recommended the 0 offset. That doesn’t make any sense to me since the factory wheels have a +44mm offset. Shouldn’t that provide more clearance for suspension and brakes then the factory wheels. I wanted a higher offset to keep the tires from sticking out too farand give me more fender clearance. Thoughts?

What’s the most + offset wheels people have put on a Sahara with 285/70/17 or bigger tires? I really don’t want a lot of rocks flying up on the outside of the fenders so I’m trying to keep it close to the factory offset, but I don’t want to take a chance of having suspension clearance issues. No lift planned.

Those wheels and tires will fit just fine. Stock wheels are +44. Anything less will only help for brake clearances.

I went with the Mopar wheels because most of the wheels that I was finding were either neutral or negative offset and I wanted to keep the tires under the fender somewhat. Those XD wheels with a +25 offset would probably been more in line with what I wanted.

You should be fine, however it’s always good to test fit.
