Looking to set up my 2018 for towing behind my motorhome.

There are so many bumpers out there, wondering if anyone can narrow down a few specifically built to be used with a tow bar?

I got the Blue Ox tow bar adapters with the frame tie in brackets. Haven’t purchased anything else. I’m waiting until we have the RV.

I went with the RockHard4x4 aluminum patriot midwidth bumper… light weight and accepts the factory LED fogs. All set for a toad. Blue Ox Ascent Tow bar and Demco Stay n Play braking system. The tow clevises bolt directly into the frame ends saving even more weight.

I requested the bull bar be deleted so it would not block the front cam and also gave me real estate to mount the aux driving lights.

So easy to hook up and the electric brake is basically invisible outside and inside the vehicle.

Had the braking system professionally installed… so clean. They located the ’emergency’ brake just to the left of the driving light, and used one of the jack cutouts for the ’plug’.

Hey.
I used to tow my Jeep behind my MH until I modded my Jeep and sold the MH.

I have a Blue Ox tow bracket, tow bar, some fancy braking system and a few other items. May be missing a bolt or two. LOL All free.

I'm in Central NJ 08550. About an hour away. PM me if youre interested in picking up and helping me clean out my garage.

We have the stock bumper and got the e trailer baseplate for it. Have an older Blue Ox aluminum tow bar and a Brake Buddy from when we towed our old Grand Cherokee.

I got rid of the tow Bar bracket that you see on the RV and now the tow bar is flat.

That’s a sweet set up!

been reading and some suggest to have D rings integrated into bumper rather than bolt on?? Is that a big deal?

Thank you. Took some time ‘designing’ it. I just use standard D rings. I don’t know what exactly you talking about with ‘built in’ D rings. One thing this set up means is you don’t need to mount a baseplate on the front of your Jeep thus saving your approach angle (if off-roading).

Note the picture I added showing connected to my RV is old. I have since changed the wheels/tires to 35s and lifted the Jeep a couple inches. So now I have a 4in high/low hitch adapter that allows me to keep my tow bars level.

From what I have read, not all steel bumpers are designed with being a tow plate in mind. Check with the manufacturer before you assume it can be towed. Etrailer.com sells bar to plate adapters to help with towing. They have a couple different sizes based on the width of the shackle mount block.

I’ve towed my Jeep behind my RV over 6,000 miles this year with Quadratec QRC bumper pulled by an NSA Ready Brute Elite II towbar. I went this route to avoid losing potential clearance from adding a baseplate. I also didn’t like the idea of having to figure out where to store the supplemental brake when not being towed.

I’ve also towed my Jeep behind my PowerWagon. With the NSA bar and the QRC bumper, my JL follows like a dream.

I mostly mirrored this entire setup and am very happy with it.

https://www.etrailer.com/question-599546.html

Bumper doesn't matter it connects directly into frame not bumper. It worked with my stock bumper and with my EAG I have now as well. And once you pull out the easily removable mounts its mostly hidden when not towing.
