Unfortunately, yes. :(

Don't really know a solution though.
I'll let you know what the dealer says when I take it in tomorrow!

Yeah, I have an appointment for tomorrow, just wanted to see if any else encountered this. After a google search, saw some JK owners with this problem, not a lot. Non with JL owners though.

Gotta keep that bad boy in the garage when not in use I suppose?

I haven’t noticed that on mine..
Ahh if only. Garage is UNFORTUNATELY being occupied by the wife for ungarage things. Part of the compromises that had to be made.

Update: Dealership said they would replace the bolts but they can't guarantee it wouldn't rust again. Also, the paint is now permanently stained and they said they could not do anything about that which sucks.

Cowl panel end bolts | 9 Nm | - | 80 in. lbs. |
Cowl side panel-to-body- bolts | 8 Nm | - | 71 in. lbs. |
Does anyone know if these are the correct torque specs? 80 in lbs for the two top bolts and 71 in lbs for the two side bolts?

Upon taking delivery of our jl, I sprayed those same bolts and other components with Boeshield T9. It’s a mil spec corrosion preventer developed for aircraft used in corrosive environments. It also has a great following in the marine industry. It goes on as a clear liquid, seeps into pores and dries waxy. I put on several coats over a couple of days and have had good long term results.

Thanks for the recommendation. I purchased new bolts, will see if I can clean those stains with some good ol' fashioned elbow grease. Then I'll try Boeshield T9. Do you recommend the spray can or the drip bottle?

I like the spray can with the red extension “straw” on the end to get into tight places. As I live in Florida, salt air is an issue and I have also used it on many of the vehicles components. You can remove it with mineral spirits at a later date if you choose

2020 Bright White Rubicon here and I have the same exact issue. The pictures I have look just like the ones you posted (probably a little more rust showing on mine). I only have about 6100 miles so far and all four bolts rusted. It's pretty obvious the paint is stained from it. Dealer is working to fix it including a new painted cowl.
