Dang. I have A 2019 with 2.0 eTorque (which I love) optioned out with basically all of the Recon options.... but I’d love to have the red seat belts.

The red stitched leather dash was another nice Recon feature...

I was told by my dealer that Jeep typically offers the Recon on even years, so no Recon for 2021.

Package saving s aside(which is a great deal), I wanted the 2.0L eTorque. It is a superb drivetrain.

Have your exact model/colors and love the look of your upgrades. Who's wheels and lift?

Sounds like dealer BS. There was a Recon in 2017 and in 2018.

Hi Ryan, thanks for the compliment!

I'm running a 3.5" MetalCloak Game Changer lift. The wheels are Fuel Covert/ 3.63" B.S.. You can see more pics as well as reviews/thoughts in my build thread.

This is inaccurate. ^

If you were to build a Rubicon with the options listed below, you would spend $5630. Buying the Recon, you get the options for $2755. Here's another link:

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a30458744/2020-jeep-wrangler-rubicon-recon-edition-leaked/

Here, I made a chart for a better understanding (This is for the 2020 MY. Not sure about 2021):

X = StandardRubiconRubicon Recon
LED LightsX
Tailgate ReinforcementX
MOAB Rock RailsX
2.0L E-TQNot AvailableX
8-Speed AutoX
Steel Bumpers w/Front LoopX
Red Seat BeltsX
Black GrillX
Headlight InsertsX
Leather DashX
Body Color FendersX
Black HardtopX
I just bought a Rubicon JLU, mine has LED headlamps, 8 spd auto, steel bumpers etc. I asked the dealer before I bought it and he said cosmetics were the only thing that couldn’t be put on the regular Rubi. He said red belts, red tool bag, and body colored fenders (which I don’t like as well as black) were the only options only available on the recon.

Yeah, that's probably true. It comes down to cost. You just save $3k or so by getting the Recon over optioning a Rubi for the same goodies.

The chart shows what would be considered "Standard" between the two is all.

I gotcha. I’d like to have the red belts, they look good.

I had to order my Recon’s body-colored fenders, otherwise they would have been black.

The Recon made sense for me because I wanted the steel bumpers, rails (they make a great step), LEDs, and I love the red seatbelts. I wasn’t sure about the black grille, but I like it with my KCs.

Are the Recon Rails significantly better in terms of protection when compared to standard Rubicon rock rails or mainly better because of the additional space to provide a step? When looking at it, I can imagine negligible extra protection.

Not to say I don’t like them either, I’m just trying to determine if a step isn’t needed, how much are they worth.

That’s a good question and I’m not sure. I’m sure that dedicated rock rails would offer better crawling protection. Others might have better insight.

With a bum knee I need a step, so this works great for me while offering some protection.
