Has anyone put a rubicon rock trac part time transfer case onto a vehicle that came with a stock selec trac full time transfer case? Curious if I will have any dtc’s or functionality issues. I assume it’s similar to putting on an atlas transfer case where everything is mechanical.

I have the transfer case ready to install then it hit me there might be issues!

Thanks for the reply PotterJLUR!

Finally got the swap complete. When I first keyed on I noticed there was a “Service 4WD” light illuminated. I disabled DTCM within my Tazer and that turned the light off. The downside with this is the drive modes typically displayed on the dash (2WD, 4 Auto, etc) are now greyed out. It also means the car doesn’t automatically disable traction control/abs when going into 4lo.

Not a huge deal as I can manually disable by a long press and hold on the traction control button, but would like to get that functionality and the drive mode indicator working again. Just ordered a DTCM off eBay from a standard sport model (no 4WD auto). Hopefully this will make things happy.

Nothing too major but thought I’d keep the thread updated in case someone runs into this in the future.

Did you end up buying a new Tcase or finding a used one? And how much did it run you?

I picked up a used one on eBay. $900 shipped.

They’re pretty pricey new (~$2k) and have a $500 core charge.

Nice! Yeah I ordered my 2024 as a "normal" Rubicon vs. the Rubicon X trim for the sole reason that Jeep is forcing the full-time tcase on the 2024 Rubicon X trim. I didn't want to always be thinking about the possibility of tcase clutch slip and wear with the full time case. So I optioned up a non-X Rubi with everything good and will be happy with my mechanically locking tcase.

Just to update the thread - I installed a DTCM from a Sport model with a standard command-trac transfer case. Unfortunately I still have the “Service 4WD” light on the dash when I turn the DTCM option on within Tazer.

Any suggestions on a next step? I wonder if there another module on the car that needs to be flashed or settings updated.

I’ve been looking at doing the opposite of this to my Jeep by adding the Select Trac T case. I got the t-case and was going to order the harness and module needed for the swap.
I’m here to ask: Why did you want to delete it? and two, after doing some digging, it looks like the back half of the case where the selec trac solenoid is mounted can be unbolted and installed on non-selec trac cases or rock trac cases as well.
If that's true, you should be able to install the 4:1 case and keep all computers happy by keeping the 4 auto part of the t case. If this is something you'd possibly be interested in doing, please keep me posted.

@Ardi1114 i wanted to switch from the stock Sahara transfer case to a Rubicon 4:1 setup. The full time 4WD wasn’t important for me down in SoCal.

Thanks a lot for the info on the latest Tazer firmware! Just tried that in conjunction with a non full-time DTCM and am finally able to show the tcase modes without the service 4WD light illuminated. Made my day!

@Ardi1114 would like to keep it all in one piece. I’m selling the entire tcase for $275 locally. Where are you located?
