"Newbe" jeep question: Whats the proper way to measure rake? ...putting a Level on rock rails or measuring the ground to center of outer wheel well fenders (Through center of wheel)?

I have yet to install a lift and I have an aftermarket steel bumper and winch and I'm only showing about 1/2" measuring to center of fenders on a 2019 JLUR.

I had issue with measurements for level too. The rock rail and a 2' level gave me my best location. I set the level on the rail and jacked up the front bumper till the bubble was centered. Took a 3/4" spacer for mine and it looks great.

I put a steel bumper and 12K winch on my JLUR, I also will not be going any bigger than 35" tires so I used Teraflex 1.5" spacer leveling kit on mine. 2" in front 1" in back and I am nice and level. Took care of the sag from added weight up front and it sits and handles great.

Rock rails, or even hardtop, would probably be the best measuring points for rake. The front fenders of the Rubicon are higher, so only a good measuring point for before and after lift measurements.

I looked at the hard top but it seemed to have a slight curve to it.
Talking spacers, is there a company that makes a 1” for the rear?

Seems about right since most leveling kits (without the rear spacers) measure about 3/4 inch.

I have a sport s with a badland apex winch and a arcus bumper. Going to install rubi shocks and springs. The sport s shocks and springs have a even lower front rake stance then the rubicon. What spacer should i use. I dont want to install it twice and measure to check what kind of spacers i need. I am thinking a 3/4 is not gonna be enough maybe a 1". Also i rather not get a full front to back leveling kit. i want to install front leveling spacers.

I always assumed the Rucibon rear fenders were higher too, no? I’ve always used the seam between the upper and lower pieces of the fender flares (centered over the axles) as my measuring points for adjusting my coilovers. Seems to look level to me when I set them at the same height front and back. Still undecided on how much rake I want to run though. My thought was to load up all my camping gear, and then set it level. Figure that will give me a little rake when I’m empty.

I know the rear fenders are a different size and shape between the Rubicons and others, but not sure about height.

A bit of rake when unloaded is better than sagging under load.
